Dona Jean Prater Kerr, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Dec. 10, 2015 in her home. She was born Nov. 23, 1932 in Springfield, the daughter of Claude Prater and Myrel Williams Prater. She was united in marriage to Howard Kerr in June 1953, for 62 years.

She worked at Royal McBee in Springfield, also at St. John's (SPD). She had a ceramic shop and taught classes. Dona loved working in the yard with her plants and flowers. She also painted many pictures on canvas and would decorate her house for all holidays. She always had fun with her family and grandchildren.

Dona was preceded in death by her parents and son, Jack Kerr. She is survived by her husband; sister, Claudine Prater; daughter, Karen Matthews; son-in-law, John Matthews; grandchildren, Jennifer Greer and her husband Steve, and David Matthews; and great-grandchild, Dallas Greer.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, Dec. 21, at 10 am at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Kerr Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
