IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Don
Pottenger
July 20, 1958 – December 17, 2020
Donald (Don) Alex Pottenger
July 20, 1958 - December 17, 2020
Don went home to be with Jesus on December 17, 2020 at age 62.
Don was born to Donald R. Pottenger and Norma Pottenger on July 20,1958 in Springfield, Missouri.
Don met his wife Jana Lynn Roland by what can only be described as a divine appointment by God in 3 separate and unrelated events that drew them together. They were married on September 1, 1983. Their family grew, son Christopher and his wife Dawn, grandchildren Chloe, Gabriel, and Sariah; daughter Katrina Horn and her husband Mathew, grandchildren Katlynn, Cooper, Emma, and great granddaughter Luena-Rea; son Tony and his wife Amber and grandson Austin. Don was blessed. Don also leaves behind a brother Ronald Pottenger with two nephews Brandon and Benjamin and their wives and children.
Don and Jana were partners in providing for their family, by the grace of God, with their jobs at Mercy Hospital. Don worked 36 years for Mercy. By many accounts, Don is described as a true servant of the Lord, a good man, and a man of God. He was a prayerful man, often stopping to pray with patients, co-workers, and anyone else he felt was in need. He also maintained a good stock of treats at his work and was very generous with sharing. Don loved the Lord Jesus Christ. He also had a deep contagious laugh and loved to tell corny jokes.
Don was a man of many talents and trades. He was a precise carpenter and a great mechanic that could fix just about anything. He understood where his strengths and wisdom came from and strived to do everything with excellence for the Lord.
Don was a loving father and grandfather. He lovingly raised his children making sure they knew he loved them. He had a special connection with each of them, for instance Don and Chris could stand and look at each other and know exactly what each one was thinking without saying a word.
Lastly, Don loved to study the word of God and to pray with others. He was gifted with the ability to feel the Spirit move especially with hands joined by other believers in Christ Jesus. He is surely missed and loved by more than he knew possible while walking on this earth. A good and faithful servant to his Lord.
