Obituary

Dominic "Nick" Joseph Arbeitman, 53, of Shawnee, KS, passed away on January 5, 2018.

Nick was born on June 16, 1964.  He is survived by his parents, Jolyne and Alan Arbeitman of Springfield; three brothers, Richard Vairo and wife Kathy, of Oklahoma City, OK, Chris Arbeitman and wife Brook, of Norman, OK and Nathan Arbeitman, of Springfield; 2 nephews, Jacob Arbeitman and Austin Sweet; three nieces, Brittany Ensley and husband Jason, Avery Arbeitman and Hattie Arbeitman; and two great-nieces, Natalie Sanchez and Scarlett Ensley.

Nick grew up in Springfield, Missouri and graduated from Glendale High School in 1983.  Following high school, Nick served 6 years in the Air Force as a communications specialist and was stationed in Germany for a good part of his service.  He was honorably discharged in 1994 and after serving his country, Nick attended St. John's School of Nursing, where he earned his RN degree.

After receiving his degree, Nick relocated to Kansas City to pursue a career in nursing working in hospitals and care facilities, ultimately becoming a certified wound care specialist and working for the last 11 years at Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Miriam, KS.  Nick was a beloved member of the team at Trinity and was deeply loved by both his co-workers as well as the patients that he treated.

Nick had many hobbies, and for the most part they all involved the outdoors.  From skiing, canoeing, 4 wheeling, disc golf, or racing his car, Nick was very passionate about the fun that life had to offer.  He was a very accomplished professional disc golfer as well as a decorated competitor in the Kansas City region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).

Nick also had a passion for food.  He loved to cook and feed people, with some of his earliest jobs being in the food service industry as a cook.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 from 7-8pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, with a graveside service at 1pm, Tuesday, Jan 16, 2018 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO.
