Dixie Anderson passed away July 21, 2013. Dixie had gallantly dealt with MS since June 1956. She was born to Arthur and Pansy Albers on December 17, 1934 in Stone County, MO. Her parents and older brother, Dallas, preceded her in death. A 1952 graduate of Branson High School, she graduated from SMS in 1956. While at SMS she was president of her sorority Alpha Delta Pi, and in November 1952 she met James S. (Jim) Anderson, whom she married on June 18, 1955 at Saint John's Episcopal Church, Springfield. Dixie leaves her husband Jim after 58 years of marriage and their two married children, James F. (Jim) Anderson (City Utilities) and April Becker (Logan Rogersville School), four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren all of Springfield. Dixie was instrumental in the formation of the Ozark Branch of the MS society and the Engineer's auxiliary in Joplin and Springfield. She taught briefly in the R-12 school district and served as Director of the Salvation Army Day Care Center in the earlier 1960's. She served on the Board of Director's of Anderson Engineering for a number of years. A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at Saint John's Episcopal Church at 11:00am, July 30, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Endowment Fund at Saint John's Episcopal Church.
