Diana Lea Robinson, 51, of Springfield, passed away in her sleep on April 10, 2011 in her home. She was born in Groton, CT, on April 26, 1959 to Ensign Paul and Kathryn Driscoll. She married the love of her life, Gary Robinson, on January 30, 1982 and spent 29 wonderful years building and nurturing her family. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Grade School, Springfield Catholic High School, and Southwest Missouri State University. Diana was an All-American cheerleader at Southwest Missouri State University. During that time, her relationship grew with her high school sweetheart and SMSU football player boyfriend, Gary, and they married shortly after graduation. Diana was a 4th grade teacher at Hickory Hills Elementary School for many years. Throughout her tenure as an educator, many awards came Diana's way. These accolades were not very important to her. What was important was that each child and family she came in contact with had to know she valued them as one of her own. Diana's goal was to teach children responsibility for themselves, and their actions. Not only was Diana a wonderful teacher, but a wonderful wife and mother as well. She cherished Gary, and his every breath made her day. She taught her children to work hard, become accomplished leaders, and be involved in the community. She took exceptional pride in her son Chris graduating from medical school, her daughter Rebecca being in a doctoral program, and her son Blake striving to become a psychologist. In Diana's words, "Education was the only thing." Diana's most unusual attribute was her ability to carry all of us when we needed her. She made all of us smarter, more polite, responsible, and all around better people. Thank you so very much for the wonderful ride. Diana is survived by her loving husband Gary Robinson, 52, of Springfield, MO, her children Chris and Lauren Robinson of Chicago, IL, Rebecca and Blake of Springfield, MO, her mother Kathryn Driscoll of Springfield, and her brother Jeff Driscoll of Springfield, MO. She also leaves behind two beautiful granddaughters, Lydia, 2, and Madeline, 1. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. April 14, 2011 at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, 820 E. Cherry Springfield, MO under the direction of Pastor Greg Ellis. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on April 13, 2011 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole Springfield, MO.
