Obituary

Desmond Francis Marsh, age 89, of Springfield, Missouri passed away at 4 AM on July 12, 2023 at The Manor at Elfindale. He was born on January 28, 1934 to Joseph Francis Marsh and Winifred Gaffney Marsh in Miami, Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kathleen Chestnut and his brother John Patrick Marsh.

Desmond was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church for 51 years. He was active in Cursillo and was a Secular Franciscan. At the age of 19, he joined the Navy where he served on a destroyer during a UN World Peace Tour. He then received an Associate's degree from Charlotte College. On May 22, 1966, he married Pauline Baltz at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He was a metal salesman employed by Hubbell Metals and National Steel. Later in life, his career path changed to volunteering and working for non-profit organizations. He enjoyed boating, sports and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Pauline, his daughter Laura Snead, his son Christopher (Debbie) Marsh, and his daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Rousey as well as three grandchildren Sienna and Keith Snead and Jackson Rousey.

Visitation will be held at 9 am on July 17th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the funeral mass following at 10 am, celebrated by Father Allen Kirchner. Burial will be at a later date at St. Paul's Cemetery in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
