Denny M. "Duke" Henry, 81, died peacefully on August 28, 2016. He was born October 29, 1934 to Gus H. and Ivy Pittman Henry of La Cygne, Kansas. He married Anita A. Wheeler in 1953 and she preceded him in death in 2013. Denny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, coach and a friend to many.

Preceding in death are his parents, brother, Gerald Henry; and his sisters, Margie Chrisman, Pearl Hahn, Laura Stewart and Grace Peterson. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Gus Henry, Joe and Marilyn Henry, Lisa and Jimmy Sherman, Nanette and K.G. Sprague and Laura Beth Henry; five grandchildren, Hank, Kate and Andrew Sherman, Spencer Henry and Jeremy Booth; and five great-grandchildren, Lilly, Katy, Lenox, Liam and Lyrie Booth; brother Preston and Joyce Patton; sister, Mrs. Don Patton; many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Denny was a Reed Beaver and spent a lot of time at the Old Boys Club. He graduated from Springfield Senior High School in 1953, where he made many lifelong friendships. Denny played Triple-A-Fast Pitch Softball, coached his son's baseball and softball teams, was a member of the Sertoma Club and an avid lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

He retired from Paul Mueller Company as a supervisor in 1999, after 43 years of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Elkland, MO.
