Dennis Sheppard passed away on September 19, 2025, at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. Sheppard and Virginia C. Sheppard (nee Clement). He is survived by his loving wife Kathy, with whom he started going steady in the 8th grade, brother Steve (Peggy), two daughters, Kelli Sheppard and Alex Henson (Skyler), and two grandchildren Finn (Kelli) and Jasper (Alex), with another grandchild, Oliver (Alex), expected in November.

Dennis was General Counsel for Springfield Remanufacturing Company for 30+ years. He was a well-respected mentor and friend to so many. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, the Missouri Bar, and proudly served as President of the board for Burrell Behavioral Health for many years, not out of a desire to retain power, but because he always said "yes" when he was called upon. We would list all boards and organizations he served throughout his life, but there simply isn't space for that. When he was healthy, he loved golf, going to the lake with friends, and travel within the United States – stating he had no desire to travel outside the country except maybe to Australia. He was always ready with a kind word or, just as easily, with a sarcastic remark and wicked smile that would catch you off guard. After work he could usually be found at "second shift" with his friends at Maso, where they sat at the same table every evening, to the point they were eventually honored with a plaque reserving their spot indefinitely.

In the past few days, as friends, colleagues, and others have reached out they have all consistently described him with the following adjectives: kind, fair, mentor, honest, diligent, amazing, generous, friend, legend, a very great man.

He will be missed.

Memorial Services will be Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church.
