Funeral services for Dr. Dennis D. Reimer, 71 year-old Springfield, Missouri resident, will be held on Saturday, September 3 at 10 a.m. at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church with Craig Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church from 9 to 10 a.m. Dennis was born May 20, 1940, in Corn, Oklahoma to Barney F. and Rosalie (Schroeder) Reimer. Dennis grew up in Corn, Oklahoma and was baptized in 1952 in a farm pond near Corn. He has been a member of several churches throughout his life: Corn Mennonite Brethren Church, Weatherford Pine Acres Mennonite Brethren Church, Christ Community Church in Weatherford, South Haven Baptist Church, and most recently at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. He was a student of the Bible and loved to teach what he learned from God's Word to others. He served as a Sunday school teacher nearly his entire life, most recently at Jefferson Baptist Church and Life Builders. He also served in leadership positions at several churches. Dennis attended Greenfield School for first grade and then through eighth grade attended Washita Heights Public School in Corn. He attended Corn Bible Academy during his high school years. Instead of farming he decided to go to college. He received his Bachelor's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, his Master's from Oklahoma State University, and his Doctor's from The University of North Texas in Denton. He taught Mathematics and Computer Science at Southwestern for 20 years and later worked at 3M and Imation for 15 years as a Senior Systems Analyst. On August 8, 1961, Dennis married the love of his life, Carol Alvis of Weatherford. She has been his help and support through many trials of health. They just recently celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. They were blessed with two children: Todd, who is a teacher at Joshua High School and Dallas Baptist University, and Lori (Morgan), who is a pharmacist in Springfield. Dennis loved computers, fishing, and his grandchildren. But especially, Dennis loved talking to others about his savior, Jesus Christ. When asked whom he wanted to meet in heaven after Jesus, his response was "Jesus is everything. " Dennis' life was marked by heart surgeries. His first was in 1964 to patch a hole in his heart; heart valve surgery came in 1992; and, finally, a heart transplant took place in 1996. With the new heart he believed God had promised him 15 more years. God was faithful and gave us every one of those years. Written in his Bible are the words, "A life is good only if it brings glory to God." Dennis' life was very good. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his two children, Todd and his wife Beth of Burleson, Texas and Lori Morgan and her husband, Alan of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren Remington and Lauren, children of Todd and Beth, and Molly, Melanie, and Faith children of Lori and Alan; a sister, Bertha (Reimer) Brown and brother, Don Reimer. His parents and an older brother, Verno Reimer, preceded him in death. The family has requested memorial donations be made to LifeBuilders Ministries, 1942 S.
