Dennis B. Lamkins, 89, Springfield, MO, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023 in Mercy Hospital. He was born July 25, 1933 in Winnipeg, MO, the son of Arthur and Flora Lamkins. He attended Lebanon Senior High School and graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in 1957 and Northwestern University in 1967. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard, November 13, 1951 to May 12, 1954. Dennis spent his working years in the Chicago area, where he spent the last 28 years as Project Engineer for United Conveyor Corp. in Waukegan, IL. He married Mary Jean Burden, June 23, 1957 and she preceded him in death in 2004. They had two children, Dawn Kirshen and Craig Lamkins, both of Springfield. He married Peggy Huling on October 15, 2005 and was preceded him in death in 2010.

Dennis was a member of St. James Episcopal, Air and Military Museum of the Ozarks and Woodturners of S.W. Missouri.

In addition to his parents, and wives, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Dennis is survived by his children, Dawn and Craig; along with 15 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023 in St. James Episcopal Church, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mount Rose Memorial Park, Lebanon, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church.
