Dennis Leon Hatfield passed away after a brief illness surrounded by his family on Dec. 2, 2011, at Cox Hospital. He was born Oct. 20, 1948, in Red Oak, IA, the son of Dale and Betty (Umphreys) Hatfield. Dennis lost his mother when he was 2 years old but was later blessed when his dad married Geraldine (Gerry) L. Carr who was truly his mom. Dennis graduated from Red Oak, IA High School and Drury University. He was a life-long member of the Christian Church and a retired realtor. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his fiancee, Jonna Gibson, two daughters, Jessica Senne (Aaron) and Stephanie Hatfield, precious grandson, Arlo Senne, one brother, Jeff Hatfield (Jill), three sisters, Sheryl Jensen (Jerry) Bev Will (Jon) and Sandy Heller (Dan). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and his faithful dog, Jewel. Dennis loved nature and music, and especially enjoyed playing banjo and guitar. His humility, kindness, love and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. A graveside service with full military honors will take place Friday, December 9, 2:30pm, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
