Obituary

Delbert Monroe Spence, 97, of Springfield, entered into heaven June 1, 2022. He was born November 4, 1924 in Willow Springs, MO to John and Emma Spence. He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a postal manager for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Madge Lena Spence; brothers Howard and Glenn Spence and great grandson, Anthony Cates and a niece Megan Kaye Spence.

He is survived by his two daughters, Carla Cates and Paula Spence; grandchildren Bryan (Jessica) Cates, Kimberly (David) Rebec, Laura (Daniel) Osborn and Nathaniel (Wansee) Florance; great grandchildren Ethan Rebec, Emily Cates, Eli Cates, Christian Rebec, Lily Osborn, Ada Osborn, Jack Osborn and Claire Osborn; siblings Freda (Leon) Brassfield, Linda Kaye (Robert) Holland and Larry (Linda) Spence and dear friend, Max Cates.

No formal visitation is planned, but friends may visit the Funeral Home from 2:00 - 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 9 at First Baptist Church of Springfield. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM in Hazelwood Cemetery.
