Obituary

Delbert "Del" M. Burry passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2023.  Beloved husband to Jean for 64 years, dedicated father to daughters Paula Humphrey (Don), Kay Lindsey (Mel) and Jeanene Gerhardt (Brad), older brother to Don Burry, and adored grandfather to 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was born May 22, 1932, in Bridgeport, NE to Rev. Elmer and J. Burnice Burry. He had an incredible memory and would tell stories of his childhood that brought a smile to many.  He worked on his uncle's ranch, taught school, served in the Navy for 6 years, was in the reserves for 26 years-achieving the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer, was a personnel manager, a human resources manager and owned a golf retail store. He attended college in the evenings while raising his family and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1972. He loved the Lord and combined with his passion for teaching, he could hardly remember a time when he didn't teach a Sunday school class.

After retirement he and Jean traveled and played lots and lots of golf and greatly enjoyed time spent with family.  He was a lifetime member of the Assemblies of God and his love for God was a driving force in his life. Del was always very positive and generous and leaves a legacy of wisdom and Christian faith.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 at Faith Assembly God church on Saturday, November 4 with a funeral including honor detail at 11:00.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Assembly of God missions.
