Debra Susan Riggs age 59 of Fair Grove, Missouri, passed away on October 3, 2016 in Strafford, Missouri. Debra was born in Bellflower, California on October 9, 1956, the oldest of the six children of Everett Raymond Riggs and Lois Nadine (Metzger) Riggs. Debra graduated from Colfax High School in Northern California and attended Sierra College in Rocklin, California. She was an in-home caregiver for the terminally ill, a CNA in California. Debra was employed with Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Marshfield Veterinary Hospital in Marshfield and was currently employed at Webco Care Center in Marshfield. Debra was an avid animal lover as well as an intellectual scholar who had a passion for history, art, music and the theatre.
Debra was an inspiration to her siblings and loved sharing her knowledge and love of history with her nieces and nephews from the time they were two years old. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and three adoring cats. Debra was preceded in death by her brother, Ronal Kent Riggs of Springfield, her father Everett Riggs and grandparents, Freeman and Martha Metzger and Irvin and Alta Riggs, all of California.
She is survived by her mother, Lois Miller of Fair Grove; sisters, Sheri Morgan of Rocklin, California, and Cynthia Purkey of Marshfield; brothers, Michael Riggs of Dayton, Nevada and Joseph Riggs of Marshfield; her eight nieces and nephews; two grandnieces and many loving and loyal friends.
Services will be at later date in the state of Nevada. Online condolences may be made at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
