Debra Meers Ratliff, passed away on December 29, 2023 and on that day was reunited with her beloved Steve, her eternal companion.
Born the youngest of six siblings, Debra was known as the life of the party. She possessed an unwavering determination to seek love and laughter, regardless of life's challenges.
Debra graduated from Senatobia High School in 1973, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in basketball, cheerleading, and softball. She continued her passion for sports, competing in softball and basketball at Northwest Community College.
Her first child arrived on August 12, 1979, with the birth of her son JR in Memphis, TN.
On February 10th, 1984, Debra Meers married Steven Ratliff in Baton Rouge, LA, and became the stepmother to Joshua Ratliff, creating the blended Ratliff Family.
Alongside Steve, Debra moved from Louisiana and Arkansas to Springfield, Missouri, in 1985, firmly establishing roots in the Ozarks.
Their family grew with the arrival of their first daughter, Codee Jean Mudd, on May 12, 1994. Debra and Steve imbued their children with unwavering support, empowering them with confidence and life skills to conquer any challenge.
Debra was characterized by her indomitable spirit, embodying grit, determination, and unyielding optimism. "Never give up" wasn't just a motto for her; it was her way of life. Her two cherished dogs, Ginger and Pepper, were always by her side, offering comfort as she delved into her Bible, tackled crossword puzzles, or joyfully cared for her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Steve, and her parents, Debra is survived by her siblings Linda Cushman, Dana White, Charlene Thornton, Vickie Henley, Sydney Meers, and her children Codee Mudd her husband Austin of Republic MO, Josh Ratliff and his wife Kristin of Fordland MO, and JR Nix and his wife Montana of Land O Lakes FL.
Her legacy lives on through her "sugar-babies" seven granddaughters, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.
