Debra K. Higgins, 57, of Springfield, Mo., passed away on Monday, Nov. 3rd, 2014, following a long illness. She was born on April 4th, 1957, in Springfield, MO, to Wendle and Katherine (Hagan) Carter and grew up there. She graduated from Kickapoo High School in 1975 and later attended S.M.S.U. In 1982 she met a man named Jim, who was lucky enough to capture her heart. They wed soon afterwards and remained happily married up to the present. Of their union was born a son, Ross, in 1983. No mother could have been any prouder than she has been of him. While she could have pursued any career she wanted, she chose to be a stay-at-home mom so she could always be there for him. Debbie loved to help others and was very generous. She was beautiful and smart and vibrant and kind and empathetic and sassy. Her loss leaves an incredible hole in the hearts of her loved ones.
