IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deborah Lynn
Coverston Huff
September 12, 1972 – August 15, 2019
Deborah Lynn Coverston Huff, 46 of Springfield, MO, passed away on August 15, 2019 at Cox South Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Park Ridge, IL, on September 12, 1972, daughter of Robert and Alicia Coverston, who survive her. She is also survived by her spouse, Bill Ed Huff, her son, Jaxson Austin, her stepchildren, Luke, Kate, and Claire Huff, her brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Harper Coverston, her nephews Joel, Ethan, and Zac, and her beloved stuffed bunny, Walker. She is also survived by an uncle, two maternal aunts, one paternal aunt, and several cousins.
Debbie graduated from Wheeling High School in 1990 and from Taylor University, having received her Bachelors Degree in 1999 and her Masters Degree in 2010. She served at Indiana Wesleyan University as an Assistant to the John Wesley Honors College, which she helped found. Deborah later served as an Instructor at Ivy Tech State University. In 2015, she joined the staff at Drury University in Springfield, MO, serving in the Athletic Department and in Academic Advising.
Debbie's blog, Redefining Happy Ending: Debbie's Cancer Crusade, attracted thousands of readers to her indefatigably encouraging writing style as she detailed the challenges of her four-year battle with clear-cell ovarian cancer while offering a consistent witness of eternal hope through the Lord Jesus Christ.
She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, to her husband's mild chagrin, and her favorite players of all time were Ryne Sandberg and Anthony Rizzo, though Kris Bryant had been recently gaining her favor.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 24, at Campbell United Methodist Church, 1747 E. Republic Rd., in Springfield, MO. Family and extended family are welcome to a gathering with food and refreshments in the Fellowship Hall immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Deborah's name may be made to GYN Cancers Alliance, 3023 South Fort Avenue, Suite D, Springfield, MO 65807 or at gynca.org .
