IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dean Stanley
Scefonas
March 23, 1945 – August 26, 2024
Dean "Dino" Stanley Scefonas, age 79, of Springfield, Missouri passed away at 11:30 a.m. on August 26, 2024. He was the son of Margaret Scefonas and Stanley Scefonas and born in Glen Cove, New York.
Dino served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in history. Dino was a one-of-a-kind person. He was passionate about food and spent most of his adult life working in various kitchens; his work in the restaurant industry is how he came to know most of his friends. Dino loved sports and was a die-hard Mets and Jets fan. One of his favorite things was watching football and baseball with his son, Sean. Dino loved trivia and watching Jeopardy (he knew all the answers). He loved to read, especially sci-fi, fantasy and historical fiction; Derek and Robyn learned their love of reading from him. He was a sweet and compassionate man who touched the lives of everyone who met him. He was a father, a friend, and a mentor and we will miss him so very much.
Dino is survived by his daughter, Robyn Scefonas and partner Kim Smith, his sons, Derek Scefonas and Sean Scefonas, brother Bob Scefonas and sister Peggy Tuiach.
