David Glen Swyhart, age 72 of Protem, MO passed away on March 27, 2012. Dave was surrounded by his family and left this earth peacefully. Dave started his career as a teacher and coach at Central High School in St Joseph, MO and later signed on with the Federal Bureau of Prisons for 21 years. Upon retirement Dave spent his years building his family home on Bull Shoals Lake and enjoying numerous hobbies. Dave's life was dedicated to his family and countless friends. His greatest joy in life was time spent with his family, friends, and his dog, Schooner out on the boat or sitting by the fire. He didn't know a stranger and never hesitated to invite people into his home or to offer help and support. Dave was known for his quick wit, strength, integrity, guidance and ability to do anything he put his mind to. He lived his life simply, believed in taking a stance for what is important and was guided by honesty, sincerity, hard work, and giving to others. Dave is deeply loved by his family and will be missed by all who had the privilege to have known him. Dave is preceded in death by his parents Herschel and Hazel Swyhart, his brother Bob Swyhart, and sister Judy Pettijohn. Dave is survived by this wife and life partner, Alice Swyhart, his children Darbi Welsh, Gretchen and Mark Gambon, and Wendi Swyhart, and his beloved grandchildren, Laikin Larson, Bailee Welsh, Bradey Welsh and David Swyhart.
