Obituary

David Vincent Cottiers was born on February 26, 1933 in New York City.  He went to be with Jesus on November 1, 2024.  He is survived by his daughter, Denise Wilkerson, son-in-law, Randy Wilkerson and granddaughter, Lindsey Franklin and husband Colton, all of Rogersville, Missouri.  Additionally, David also is survived by various nieces and nephews in the Northeast, Minnesota and South Carolina.

One of several children, Dave grew up in challenging times in New York.  His father passed while Dave was still very young, so he learned to be self-sufficient.  Even as a child of the Great Depression, Dave was ambitious and intuitive and made the best of what he was given.  Growing up in New York provided him an innate ability to build relationships with people from virtually every culture.  Though his childhood experiences and strife, he developed a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor that served him well throughout his adulthood and career.  As a teenager, he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany where he met Anneliese Kastropp.  In 1954, they were married. After completion of his military service, they moved to New York City.  While in New York, Dave held several positions in and around Wall Street. Later, he finished his training as a machinist and held positions in technical services and quality control.

In 1972, Dave decided to move his family to Richland, Missouri favoring a more rural environment to raise his young daughter, Denise.  In Richland, they could be close to one of Anneliese's sisters, Ingeborg and her family.  While residing in Richland, Dave commuted to Rolla, where he was employed as a machinist by the US Bureau of Mines. As a civil service employee, he earned various coveted awards and honors for his work.

Dave loved God and trusted Him.  He gave his life to Christ around 1974 and was baptized. Even in the later years of his life, he would go to church when he felt well or would watch the service on his iPad.

For those who knew him, Dave was always looked to for his humor, and he was revered for his insight and advice on life; he will surely be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Rogersville.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Oakley Downing and Integrity Hospice for their wonderful care.

The Celebration of Life services will be held on Wednesday, November 6th at 2 pm at First Baptist Church of Rogersville. Visitation will begin at 1 pm. Burial following the service at White Oak Cemetery.
