Dave Cunningham was born July 2, 1934, in Chicago Illinois.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, their children Mark and Jill, and their five grandchildren Tiffany, Abbie, Megan, Molly, and Sydnie.  Their eight great grandchildren, Sophia, Jeffrey, Holly, Alex, Aiden, Andrew, Emma, and Beckett.

Dave attended the University of Tokyo, Japan, and San Diego State University earning graduate and undergraduate degrees in marine biology.

Dave was an educator, teaching high school and college biology. His love for marine biology and the ocean were evident by his eagerness to share his knowledge with numerous students through the years.

He served in the United States Marine Corps in the Korean War and then served in the United States Coast Guard reserve for 20 years.

Dave lived out his Christian faith with great zeal, serving in prison ministries, on mission in Nicaragua, and sought to reach the homeless with Christ's love.

Dave was an exceptional teacher and mentor to countless young people throughout his life.

A beloved husband, father and grandfather, wholly loved and cherished by his family. His legacy of love and infectious smile will forever be remembered.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
