Dr. Darrell D. Church Darrell Davis Church was born in Cedar County, MO on April 7, 1924, to Melvin R. and Hazel Davis Church. After a lengthy illness, he passed away in his home surrounded by his family on February 15th. He spent his youth in his hometown of Stockton, MO and attended Springfield Teachers College (now MSU). He served in Europe during World War II. He entered the Kansas City University School of Dentistry where he met his wife, Nancy Williams. They celebrated sixty-six years of marriage. They have two daughters, Jane and Linda. Upon graduation from dental school, he practiced dentistry in Stockton, MO and Buffalo, MO. He was a member of the American Dental Association, a board member of the Sac River Valley Bank in Stockton and served as a member of the Buffalo School Board. He was of the Methodist faith. He was an avid quail hunter and fisherman and enjoyed pheasant hunting and walleye fishing trips with good friends. He was a member of Twin Oaks Country Club and enjoyed playing golf. After retirement, he and Nancy moved to Springfield and purchased a home where they were surrounded by thoughtful, caring neighbors. He is survived by his wife, Nancy: daughters Jane Knabb and her husband Andy, and Linda Reynier; beloved grandchildren, Tom Church and Robin Reynier, step-granddaughter, Tiffany Knabb, sister-in-law, Mona Belle Miller, many dear cousins and a host of friends. The family is deeply grateful to Hospice & Palliative Care for their love and dedication. Funeral services will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011 with The Reverend Wesley Arlington officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Harmony House, The Family Violence Prevention Center, P.O. Box 5972, Springfield, Missouri 65801. It was his wish that he be cremated.
