Obituary

Darrell "Toody" Eugene Barge Sr. was born on August 21, 1966, in Springfield, Missouri to Nancy Sue Barge. He was the 4 th of her seven children. He enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends. He quickly became regarded as a high-level athlete in the sports of Football and Wrestling during his years at Central High School. He was selected to the 5 th annual Football All-Stars as a Defensive Tackle. While in wrestling, he went his entire 4-year high school career without being pinned. He placed 2 nd at the State Tournament in the weight class of 185 lbs. He went on to continue wrestling at the collegiate level at Southwest Missouri State University, now known as Missouri State. He married the love of his life, Jeannie Ann Marshall, on May 31 st , 1986. Together they raised two boys Darrell Eugene Barge, Jr. and Jacob Adam Barge. He made his career out of being an over the road truck driver to provide for his family. As hard of a worker as he was, he made a point to invest ,the majority of, his time with his family. He made sure they were involved in sports, education, and church. Toody and Jeannie later adopted two children, Malik DeShawn Marshall and Kiara Marie Marshall.

Toody Barge of Springfield Missouri Sadly left us on the 27 th day of February 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was proceeded in death by his brother, Reginald L. Barge and his father, Athel Ransom. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie Ann Barge (Springfield, MO). His lovely Mother, Nancy Sue Barge (Springfield, MO). His brothers; Randy L. Barge (Philadelphia, PA), Phillip D. Barge (Atlanta, GA), and Daron L. Barge (Belleville, IL). His sisters; Lesley G. Lowery- husband Victor Lowery (Springfield, MO) and Tracy D. Hunt- Husband Ryan Hunt (Battlefield, MO). His sons; Darrell E. Barge, Jr.- wife Theresa V. Barge (Springfield, MO) and Jacob A. Barge (Springfield, MO). His adopted children; Malik D. Marshall and Kiara M. Marshall (Springfield, MO). His grandchildren; Darrell E. Barge, III, Bronwyn K. Barge, and Roman X. Barge (Springfield, MO). As well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 7:00 PM at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home.  Private family burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
