Darlene Rae (Bacon) Scott, 78 of Springfield, MO passed away Thursday May 27, 2010 in St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, from complications of lung cancer. Darlene was born April 26, 1932 in Ellington, MO to Basil U. and Ollie V. Bacon. She was married March 18, 1961 to Orlin (Lin) A. Scott and together they had one son, Mike. To that marriage she brought her daughters Linda and Carolyn. She was also a step-mother to David and Gary Scott. After graduating from Salem MO High School, she moved to Springfield to attend Draughn's Business School. She graduated as a secretary and bookkeeper. She worked for developers John Q. Hammons and Lee McLean and later as secretary for 30 years for her husband in their used car business Scott Motor Sales. She was also a secretary on a volunteer basis for the Missouri State Elks Association Housing Chairman. She is survived by her husband Lin, of the home, One Sister, Ellene Jemes and husband Clayton of Grovespring, MO, two brothers, Basil E. Bacon and wife Phyllis of Springfield and Bill E. Bacon and wife Delphia of Nixa, MO. Her stepsons David Scott and wife Karen of Springfield, Gary Scott and wife Sue of Nixa, daughters Linda Sloan and husband Bruce of Leawood, KS, Carolyn Farrar and husband Gary of Springfield, and son Mike Scott and wife Connie of Rogersville, MO. A special aunt, Lorene Henry of Ellington, MO. 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and Facebook friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ollie and Basil Bacon. Services will be held Tuesday, June 1st at 2:00 pm at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Merkel officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, May 31st from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery North.
