Danny E. "Dan" Walker, 58, Nixa, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010. He was born April 9, 1952, the son of Donald Eugene and Lois Maxine Wade Walker. A character larger than life, Dan Walker's absence will be felt by his family, friends, and students. His thirty years of coaching gave so many the opportunity to learn about the game of tennis and even more about life. His absolute trueness to himself and those around him created a group of family and friends who loved and adored him. His wisdom and his love we will carry with us forever. In addition to his parents, Dan is survived by his wife, Sharman Paine Walker; son, Stephen Michael "Bubs" Walker, Nixa; daughter, Amanda June "Mandy" Walker, St. Louis; two brothers, Ron Johnson, Springfield; and Terry Walker, Dogwood, Missouri; his in-laws, extended family and numerous friends and students. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. No visitation is planned.
