Daniel Howard Dunaway, 80, of Springfield, MO passed away suddenly on June 20, 2024. Daniel was born in St. Louis, MO to Malcolm and Martha McKinney Dunaway. Daniel is survived by sons David Michael and Jean-Philippe (Veronique), along with grandchildren, Thomas and Megan Dunaway and his longtime loving companion, Alice Rainbolt.

Daniel is preceded in death by his father, mother, elder brother Leslie and twin brother David.

Daniel served as a captain in the Army during the Vietnam War and became a Purple Heart recipient during that time. He retired from Canadian Pacific Railway and later returned to the States to make Missouri his home again. Daniel became involved in various veteran and benevolent organizations.

Services will be held at Briar Street Baptist Church, 1361 W. Briar Street in Springfield on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM followed by interment at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

Memorial contributions may be made in Daniel's name to Briar Street Baptist Church, or the charity of the donor's choice.
