December 28, 1946 – March 4, 2016
Daniel F. Curtis, a resident of Springfield, MO, died at his home in the presence of his wife Pamela on March4, 2016. He was 69 years old. Daniel served his country in Vietnam as an F-4 Phantom crew chief in the United States Navy Air, achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class. Following his term of service he taught high school biology and spent 20 years as a correctional officer at the Medical Center for Federal Prisoners, Springfield, MO. He met the love of his life, Pamela Bowen, in March of 1973, and married her five months later, a union lasting 42 years until his death. Following retirement from the Medical Center, he returned to the pursuit of his lifelong passion of model aircraft pattern flying and building, as well as playing banjo and guitar. He also enjoyed skeet shooting with his son Scott.
Dan is survived by his wife Pamela, his mother Virginia Purcell, two sons Scott and John, daughter-in-law, Jenny, and his grandson Drew, as well as many dear family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Graveside services will be Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
