Obituary

Dale Wiser, age 94 passed away on January 31, 2022 at Lakewood Assisted Living in Springfield, Missouri. He was born in Miller County, Missouri on December 24 th , 1927 to Earl and Sadie Wiser. Following high school, he attended the U.S. Navy's Yeoman school and served onboard the USS LeJeune. After his term of service, he attended Southwest Baptist University where he met and married Erma Wiser. He earned his degree at Southwest Missouri State University.

Dale's career with the railroad was long and interesting working at Frisco and Burlington Northern. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Springfield, MO where he served as a deacon, and sang in the choir. He was a member of Toastmasters, which he enjoyed and where he earned awards for his humorous speeches. He belonged to the Civic-Aires for many years.

Dale lived a life of active service to others. He volunteered at the food pantry of Grand Oaks Baptist Mission for over 20 years. He willingly assisted family members with various household projects and visited church members who were ill or in need.

He is preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years and is survived by his sister, Bonnie Buckner of Nashville, TN, children, Debbie (husband, Tom Edelstein) of St. Louis, Dan (wife, Sue) of Strafford, Paul (wife, Sandy) of Springfield. He has four grandchildren, Greg and Justin Wiser, and Adam and Julia (Palencia) Edelstein, and two great-grandchildren, Sarah Kathryn and Thomas James.

The family expresses their gratitude to the staff and residents of Lakewood Assisted Living, who provided loving care, fellowship, and attention in his last years.

A memorial service will be held February 7th at 1:00pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with private interment to follow. COVID safety protocols including masks and social distancing will be observed by all in attendance.
