D. Ray Massey, 73 of Nixa, MO passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014. He was born on March 25, 1941 in Palestine, AR to James and Stella Massey. Mr. Massey graduated from Vanndale High School in Vanndale, AR. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Holloway on June 7, 1958. Mr. Massey was an insurance agent and operated a successful agency in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Berthel Freeman, Josie Freeman, and Barbara Massey; a daughter, Shannon L. Dean. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; three grandchildren, Christopher Ray Dean, Savannah Rose Dean, Brandy Michelle Dean; four brothers, James A. Massey, W.A. Massey, Marvin Massey, and Jerry Massey; one sister, Bonnie Cox; and a son in law, Alan Dean. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, in Nixa under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
