Obituary

The world lost an enormous laugh when Cynthia Louise (Hudson) Sullivan, 54, passed from this world to the next. For those who loved her, it's her laugh that will be remembered most. It is hard to describe and impossible to duplicate. Like the owner, it was one of a kind. Cyndi was born January 10, 1957, in Eustis, Florida, to Bryant and Nancy Hudson. She died Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, MO, after a 6 ½ year fight with ovarian cancer. Cyndi met the love of her life, Gary Sullivan, in the fall of 1974. The two attended the University of Florida and married in March 1975. After graduation, they moved to Rolling Fork and then Hollandale, MS, where Cyndi did her best to transition from city girl to farm wife. She earned her living as a successful CPA and business owner for the next 30 years. She and Gary owned home health care agencies in Mississippi and Colorado and Cyndi was president of the Mississippi Association for Home Care for four years. As an expert in that field, she was often called to lobby locally and nationally on home health care issues. Cyndi was preceded in death by her sister, Carrie Hudson. She is survived by her husband, Gary; children Jessica (Sullivan) Rakow, Lemont, IL, Joshua Sullivan, Springfield, MO; grandchildren Kenneth Carl (Trace) Rakow, III and Sullivan Briley Rakow, Lemont, IL; parents Bryant and Dr. Nancy Hudson, Raleigh, NC; siblings Dr. Bryant Ashley Hudson, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Chris Hudson, Raleigh, NC, and Anna (Hudson) Frey, Hollandale, MS; and a host of nieces nephews and friends. Cyndi loved the beach, entertaining friends and family, painting and the Florida Gators. Arrangements are being handled by Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, MO. Visitation (3 p.m.) and a memorial service (4 p.m.) will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Fellowship Bible Church, 4855 South Farm Road 205, Rogersville, MO, 65742, Phillip Wright officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations are made to GYN Cancer Alliance, 3023 S. Fort, Ste B, Springfield, MO 65807.
