Gilpin
September 2, 1947 – December 29, 2025
Cynthia Jane Gilpin was born on September 2, 1947 to Wilson and Jeanne Curey in Jackson, Michigan. She went to be with her God on December 29, 2025 after a lengthy and determined battle with lung cancer and depression.
Cynthia grew up in Jackson, then graduated form the Interlochen Arts Academy where she excelled in music and became a concert level violinist. She then attended Kalamazoo College in Michigan where she was awarded a bachelor's degree in english. Later on she earned a masters degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix.
She began her career with Ameritech Communications as telephone operator Supervisor, then was promoted to their engineering department where she worked for several years. She then transferred to Mountain Bell (US West) in Denver, Colorado where she met the person who became her husband, David (Dave) Gilpin. Cynthia continued her career as an engineer until 1997 when she retired and a few years later, she and her husband moved to Springfield to be closer to their grandchildren.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents Wilson Curey and Jeanne (Curey) Dille and her stepfather Ralph Dille.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dave; her step son, Troy Gilpin of Brighton, CO, her step daughter, Laurie Goslee, step grandchildren Sarah Goslee and Mason Goslee, all of Springfield. She is also survived by her sister, LInda Nye and brother-in-law, Bob Cornell, both of Andover, NY and her nephews Fred Nye and Theo Curey, both of New Jersey.
Cynthia was a devoted wife and a loyal friend. She always had a kind word to say to anyone she would meet. She was very personable, had a great laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit many places during her lifetime. She also loved many different crafts such as sewing, beading and crocheting, making hats and scarves then giving them out to cancer patients and others in need.
Cynthia was a loyal member of Schweitzer Church where she volunteered at the pantry and served as a prayer giver. She also belonged to several bible study and prayer groups where she developed many cherished friendships.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Schweitzer Church.
