Craig Shane Jones was born on July 6, 1968 in Springfield, MO and passed away on July 25, 2015 in Indianapolis, IN. He was 47 years old. He is survived by his mother, Marquita Walker, one sister, Dana Walker, two brothers, Matthew Walker and Jeremy Walker, one niece, Abigale Ross, and two nephews, Jason Walker and Adam Walker. Shane grew up like any other young man. He attended public schools in Springfield, played T-ball, Mighty Mites, and Y Basketball. During his high school career at Glendale High School he was on the wrestling team and ran cross-country track; he was multi-talented, loved music, movies, and drawing. During his high school career, Shane made some choices which affected his entire life. All of the many talents he possessed, his outlook on life, his health, his friends, and his family were impacted by those choices. No one deliberately chooses a life of addiction and alcoholism, but the choices one makes can trigger a disease over which the individual has little to no control. Shane's challenges led to an existence fraught with turmoil and pain. As he progressed into adulthood and worked in construction and food service, he constantly worked with professionals in the addiction and mental health community to overcome problems with drugs and alcohol in search of a more balanced and productive life. But even the strong support Shane had from his family in battling his addictions and mental health issues were not enough to fulfill the hope and promise of a life which ended much too soon. If Shane's story can help one person, one family member, or one young adult who is battling addictions and mental health issues to refrain from making the choices to use drugs and alcohol, then his story has to be told. Our family is hurting from this loss; we love Shane with all our hearts, and we deeply grieve for him. Our consolation is that Shane is now at peace and hurts no longer. We invite you to share with our family a celebration of Shane's life. Please join us at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 7:00 pm.
