Obituary

Cleta B. "Kate" Beatty, loving wife, mother and friend passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 after a lengthy illness. She was born June 12, 1928 in Washington State to James Andy and Ida Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Beatty, and her sister, Bernice Lambert, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Haney (Tulsa, OK), Pamela Beatty (Springfield, MO), Deborah Beatty (Tulsa, OK) and Angela Freeman (Tom) (Hot Springs, AR). Kate's girls were blessed to have their mother for another 42 years after John died. She set a wonderful example for her daughters by the way she continued to build and maintain her life and her home. Kate and John lived in Springfield and were life-long members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Kate grew up in Hurley, MO and was her Senior Class President. She always looked forward to their class reunions and catching up with her classmates. She will be forever remembered for her love of life, friends, card games and slot machines. Visitation will be Thursday, March 6 from 5- 7 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home and the funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1115 N. Campbell, Springfield, MO 65802, or Alzheimer's Association, 1630 W. Elfindale, Springfield, MO 65807.
