Clark Renaud VerSteeg, born June 1, 1943, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on March 29, 2024, at the age of 80. His parents were Orville Ray and Myrtle Alice (Renaud) VerSteeg of Lynnville, Iowa, where he was born and raised. After graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathy (Maschmann) VerSteeg and moved to Grinnell, Iowa. They raised their two daughters, Cindi (VerSteeg) Kopel and Toni (VerSteeg) Nichols, there before moving south to Mt Pleasant, Iowa for a few years, then on to settle in Springfield, Missouri.

Clark spent most of his younger years as a diesel mechanic for Ryder Truck Rental before moving up to a supervisor's position, then into traveling nationwide as a software coordinator for their new inventory technology. In his downtime, he loved to fish, golf, race go-carts, and tinker in the garage or backyard. He was a life-long fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and St Louis Cardinals.

After 59 years of marriage, his wife Kathy passed away in 2021. He is survived by his brother, Robert 'Gene' VerSteeg (Dixie) and his daughters Cindi Kopel (Larry) and Toni Nichols (Stephen) and grandchildren Nichole Abel (Mickie), Jamie Kopel, Clark Nichols (Jen), and Brandon Kopel.

To honor Clark's wishes, the family asks you to join them for a Celebration of Life Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM with visitation to follow until 4:00 PM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local no-kill animal shelter or charity of your choice in his honor.
