Obituary

On Wednesday, January 28, 2015, Clarence Stanley "Bud" Dougan passed away at his home. Bud was 89, having fought a hard battle with esophageal cancer. Bud was born in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, on August 2, 1925, the son of Rose and Clarence Cecil Dougan. Bud had one brother, Elbert Dougan, who currently resides in Delta, Colorado, and one sister, Patricia. Patricia preceded Bud in death at the age of 15. Bud served as a squad leader holding the rank of Sergeant while serving in the 29th Division of the U.S. Army during World War II. He celebrated his 19th birthday in France. He was proud of his service as was his family. He recently completed a Veterans Honor Flight with his son, David Dougan, to Washington, D.C. When Bud returned from the war, he met his forever love - Wanda Nadine Vanderpool. They were married August 15, 1951. While living in Colorado, Bud and Wanda had two children - Kathy and Don. The family soon moved to Missouri to begin a new adventure. Bud and Wanda settled in Springfield, Missouri, where they welcomed a new addition to their family, David Dougan. Bud soon began employment at Dayco Industries. Bud worked at Dayco for 20 years as a belt technician. Bud developed innovative testing techniques for belts manufactured by Dayco. Bud was mechanically inclined and often created devices or tools to assist his family and friends with household tasks. Bud was a mechanical genius with all that he created and imagined over his lifetime. Bud attended Second Baptist with Wanda for over 50 years. During that time they developed special friendships, especially with the ladies of their Sunday School class. Bud was adopted by those special ladies and was loved and cared for as a special friend. Bud was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister and dear wife, Wanda Dougan, to whom he was married 62 years. Bud is survived by his brother, Elbert Dougan, of Delta, Colorado. Bud is also survived by his children - Kathy Myers, Don Dougan and David Dougan as well as six grandchildren: Christy, Heather, Lincoln, Alden, Brenna and Hanna, and six great-grandchildren. Bud will always be loved, remembered and missed, but we are assured he is free in the arms of his heavenly Father.
