Clara Sophia Tinnin, 96, Springfield, Mo., passed away January 11, 2011. Clara was born February 1, 1914 in St. Louis, Mo., to Theodore and Caroline Stedingk. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer; son, Terry; daughter, Alice Galyean Zeder; sister, Frieda Smith; and brothers, Ted and Carl Stedingk. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Beach and husband Charles; and her son Ralph Tinnin and wife Jane; grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Andrew and Glenda Beach, John Tinnin, Analisa and Scott Jones, Ryan and Dena Galyean, Kaye and Michael Harmsen, and Emily and Eric Anderson; great grandchildren, Jordan, Olivia and Sophia Beach, Ivy, Emma and Sophie Tinnin and Cameron and Kaitlyn Jones. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and special friends. Clara loved being with her family and enjoyed trips to the mountains, the seashore and England. She was a cub scout and girl scout leader and was very involved with activities at Emmaus Lutheran Church and School in St. Louis. She would also spend hours with her sewing and crafts. After moving to Springfield and the passing of her husband she returned to work and was head cashier at Dillards Department Store for several years. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the entire staff at Spring Ridge Assisted Living for providing a safe and loving environment for Clara over the past 2 1/2 years. They would also like to thank the members of the Preferred Hospice team for their kind and compassionate care during Clara's final hours. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with Pastor William R. Marler officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Private burial will take place in St. Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
