IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cindy
Baird
December 22, 1965 – February 1, 2022
Cynthia (Cindy) Westphal Baird died on February 1, 2022. She was born on December 22, 1965 in Elmhurst, Illinois to Ronald Westphal Sr and Audrey Westphal (Tobey).
Cindy was a graduate of York Community High School in Elmhurst. She later went on to become a registered nurse, graduating from the Lutheran General School of Nursing. She married William Baird on August 6, 1988 at St. Peter's Church in Elmhurst, Illinois. Over the years they lived in Kirksville, Missouri, St. Louis, Missouri, Columbus, Ohio, and Rochester, Minnesota, where she got her Master's Degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at the University of Minnesota. To escape the cold winters of Minnesota, they finally settled down in Springfield, Missouri in 1997 where they started their family. Cindy was mother to two beautiful girls: Chelsea and Abigail Baird, who she found great joy in raising. She was also a sister to Christine Sego, Catherine Bichler, Carol Dinelli, and Ronald Westphal Jr. Cindy was a crazy aunt to many beautiful nieces. She also loved her dog Sadie Bug, a shih tzu she rescued from St. Louis in 2016. Cindy enjoyed cooking, always coming up with a new way to make great food. She loved sewing, often finding projects from the local theater or people in the community. She was always up for spending time with friends, which she had many of throughout the years. She could talk on the phone all day just checking up on people. Cindy loved to be the life of the party and she was very good at bringing laughter and smiles to any room she entered. Cindy had a mesmerizing smile and a contagious laugh that would fill the air. Anyone who knew Cindy knew that she lived to serve others; whether it was in her nursing with children or in her life with the people she loved. She was always willing to give anything she could. Cindy loved going on adventures, she went on many cross-country road trips with her daughter, Chelsea, to the Grand Canyon and many other national parks. Cindy had a strong Christian faith and wore it for the world to see. Through this faith we know that even though her physical life on earth has ended, her eternal life with Jesus Christ has just begun.
