Chris Turpin, 87, Springfield, MO passed away January 27, 2017 at ManorCare Nursing Home.

She attended a country school in Valley Center, MO, graduated from Drexel High School, MO and then Warrensburg College and got a nursing degree from Kansas City General, Kansas City, MO. She started working as a Registered Nurse at the Mt. Ayr Hospital in Mt. Ayr, Iowa in 1954.

In May of 1954 she met a Navy guy, Bill Turpin whom she shortly married. Two sons were born to them while Bill was stationed in Coronado, CA; Stephen and Stanley Turpin.

Upon returning to Springfield Chrissy worked at St. John's Hospital. She was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church and volunteered at Crosslines. She was also a Reading Buddy, helping people learn how to read. She was also an avid greeting card crafter.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; sons, Stephen and wife Kathy of Pickerington, Ohio, Stanley and wife Karen of Phoenix, AZ and grandchildren, Kelly, Scott, Ryan and Stephanie Turpin; a great granddaughter, Carlie Turpin; a sister, Katherine Dunlap of Denver, Co and many cousins and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
