Obituary

Chris L. Palcheff, age 91, Springfield, Mo, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield. Chris was born December 5, 1922 in Madison, IL. He attended Madison Public Schools and Washington University. For three years during World War II he served his country in an army medical post in Europe. Upon returning home, he attended Washington University Medical School. He served his internship in Pennsylvania, then joined with two medical school classmates to start a family practice clinic in Iowa. He returned to St. Louis a few years later to specialize in pediatrics. In 1958 he moved to Springfield and began his pediatric medical practice. He retired in July, 2005 after 47 years of devoted service to his young patients and their parents, some of whom were the third generation in his care. Chris married June V. Argue on June 25, 1950. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Chris enjoyed yard work, spending time outdoors, hiking, fishing and camping. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and regularly watched their games on tv. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Palcheff (Argue); mother, Zoya Palcheff (Marcovsky); father, Lazar Palcheff; brothers, John Palcheff and George Palcheff; daughter, Christine Elizabeth Palcheff; sister-in-law, Velta Smythe; brother-in-law, Joe Argue. He is survived by his daughter, Carol and husband Charles Pearson, Springfield; daughter, Mary and husband Randy Wiemer, Columbia, MO; granddaughter, Jennifer and husband Chris Seris; great-grandson, Jackson Seris, all of Columbia, MO; grandson, Zach and wife Jenn Wiemer, Germantown, TN; sister, Mary Tarpoff, Granite City, IL; sister-in-law, LaVerne Palcheff, Jerseyville, IL; devoted office manager, Flo Kelley plus numerous nieces, nephews and family friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 21, 2014 in King's Way United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jon Spalding officiating under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm, Sunday, July 20, 2014 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a health or environmental charity of the donor's choice.
