Chester Dale McArthur passed away on Aug 5, 2026 in Springfield MO.

He was born April 11, 1931 in Mansfield, MO.

Chester was preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Mary Jane McArthur and his parents, Harvey and Augusta McArthur. He is survived by his daughter and son, Marsha Chappelow of Overland Park KS, and Steve McArthur and his wife, Carol, of Gladstone, MO; five grandchildren: Josh Chappelow and wife, Beth of Parkville, MO; Jake Chappelow and his wife, Mandy of Lenexa, KS; Sarah Hawkins and her husband, Andrew of North Oaks, MN; Jessica Colyer and her husband, Jared of Denver, CO; and Tyler McArthur and his wife, Jessica of Kansas City, MO; and eight great grandchildren: Isabelle Hawkins, Miles Chappelow, Maizy Chappelow, Pearl McArthur, Marlee Chappelow, John Chappelow, Flora McArthur and Amelia Colyer. And Wilda VierKant of Springfield was a very special person to him in the later years of his life.

Chester was a graduate of Mansfield High School. He was a Kraft Foods employee for 39 years with the last 20 years as the District Transportation Manager for Kraft. He served in the Navy Reserve from 1950-54. He was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer for several years. He enjoyed sports, traveling, and most of all, his family.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2026 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with a service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Private family burial will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
