Charlott’s early life in her home town of Long View, Texas soon became focused on music (instrumental and vocal) and her Christian faith. She was a classically trained concert pianist, under the tutelage of the renowned Anne Dean Turk. Among Turk’s proteges was another East Texan, Van Cliburn. Charlott’s musical gifts served God through countless outlets in Christian ministry in settings as diverse as the televised Rex Humbard World Ministries and St. John’s Cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese in Knoxville. Scores of churches throughout the nation witnessed her God-given talent. In addition, she worked extensively in Christian television and later in television and movie productions in California. In midlife, she earned (with top honors) bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education from California State University. She taught elementary and secondary classes in Southern California and Tennessee.
She established a nonprofit organization, Music for the Love of Children, to bring the joy of music to disadvantaged kids.
She met and married Dr. Gilbert Zimmerman in 2018. The couple relocated to Springfield in 2020. Here she has directed music ensembles at All Saints Anglican Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. She and Gilbert have been active members of Trinity. Charlott has also served as a member of the Auxiliary of Gideons International, helping share the Gospel with the world.
Charlott leaves her husband, Gil, and three daughters from her first marriage: Angelita Kay, Talitha Ann, and Christianna Delight, as well as beloved grandchildren Logan and London.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 9:00-10:00 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church followed by funeral service at 10:00 AM. Burial in Missouri Veterans Cemetery will take place Monday, June 8, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
