Obituary

Charline Lindsay of Springfield, MO died January 14, 2017 at 2:06 a.m. Charline was born August 1, 1918 to Dr. and Mrs. JW Lindsay of Conway.

She received a BS degree from Southwest Missouri State University and a MS degree from the University of Wisconsin. She continued her education with sabbaticals at Cornell University and the University of Missouri.

Charline taught in two local high schools before accepting a position with the University of Missouri Extension Education dept. in Columbia, where she worked for 31 years attaining the rank of professor and retiring with Professor Emeritus status.

She was a member of Phi Epsilon Omicron, Gamma Sigma Delta, and Epsilon Sigma Phi honorary societies. She received The Meritorious Service awards from the latter two.

After retiring to Springfield in 1981 she taught part-time in the South Haven preschool until 1990. She was a member of the University Heights Baptist Church, Southwest Missouri Museum Associates, Beaux Arts group, Chapter ER PEO, Missouri State Historical Society and served ten years as a volunteer at Cox Hospital.

Charline had broad interests, which were with many onsite visits to historical places in the world.

She is preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Dodson and Natalie Armstrong; three brothers, John Lindsay and wife Fran, Jack Lindsay and Richard Lindsay and wife Carole.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Nadine Lindsay of Springfield and numerous nephews and nieces.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
