Charles G. "Bud" Vest, 82, Springfield, passed away at 9:43 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 in his home. He was born December 20, 1929 in Pleasanton, Kansas, the son of Charles J. and Francena M. (Holmes) Vest. Bud came to Springfield in 1954 and retired from Kraft Foods in 1992. He was a charter member of South Campbell Avenue Baptist Church. Bud was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, coin collecting, classic car restoration and his "Blue Jay" 1957 Chevy. Bud is survived by his loving wife, Clara Vest; a son and his wife, Stan and Janet Vest; a daughter and her husband, Susan and Patrick Robarge; two sisters, Evelyn Ham and Addie Mae Ralph; three grandchildren, Lori Looney, Blake Demore and Spencer Robarge; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Dayton and Harper Looney. The family would like to send out a very special thank you to Stephanie, Brenda, Laura, Scott and all the others from Oxford Hospice who had a part in his last days. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
