Charles Edward Vergien, age 84, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on April 25, 2011 at Mercy St. Johns Hospital. He was born December 18, 1926 to Charles F. and Lucinda (Crocker) Vergien in Orchard Park, New York. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Buffalo. He was a U.S. Army veteran of both WW II and the Korean War. He was the Vice President and General Manager of Consumers Markets. He was preceded in death by a brother Richard Vergien. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Kay Vergien, four children Scott C. (Maggie) Vergien of Medina, WA; Debbie (Tim) Gerken of Montpelier, OH; Wendy (Fred) Goecker of Lees Summit, MO; and Brad (Sabrina) Vergien of Gallup, NM, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home located at 1947 E. Seminole. Services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Southminster Presbyterian Church, located at 2245 S. Holland Avenue, with The Reverend Bill Havens officiating. Memorials may be made to the Southminster Presbyterian Church or the American Lung Association.
