Obituary

Charles M. Tuck, age 78, passed away June 21, 2014 in Springfield, Missouri. Charles was born September 6, 1935, in Pleasant Hope, Missouri to Charles M. Tuck, Sr. and Berniece Tuck. As a child, the family lived in different states as his father was employed by military contractors. After World War II, the family returned to North Springfield when he was ten years old. He graduated from Willard High School in 1953, and then graduated from Southwest Missouri State College in 1957, cum laude, with ROTC credentials. He began his career with Home Builders Materials and Supply Company in 1955. He then began work with Meek Lumber Company in 1971 as a yard manager, and later held the position of General Manager of Missouri and Arkansas operations for 24 years before his retirement in 1999. Charles married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Squibb, in June 1957. After a long battle with cancer, Marilyn passed away in November, 1976. Charles was then fortunate to meet and again fall in love with Frances Allen Rose. They married in April, 1981. Together they traveled to many foreign countries, and always enjoyed their annual three-month stay in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Together they created a rental property business which they continue to personally manage. He was an avid fan of all sports, especially basketball, baseball, golf and fishing. Charles and his family were members at Twin Oaks Country Club since 1991. Charles is survived by his wife of 33 years, Frances L. Tuck; his son Brad Tuck and wife, Paige; 2 step-sons, Paul Allen and Randy Allen; 7 grandchildren, Chace Tuck, Aubrey Tuck, Claire Tuck, Evan Batson, Ryan Batson, Deni Allen, and wife Kate, Dori Grinder and husband Kevin; 2 great-grandchildren, Tobin and Garrin Grinder, and close personal friends, Edwina and Bailey Smith. Those who know Charles are well aware "he did things his way." His attention to detail, loyalty, and fairness was recognized on both a professional and personal basis. The generosity of he and Fran was always given to many, and he remained a proud member of Second Baptist Church. He was truly a good, honest man who was respected by all, and admired by many. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday June 25, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the missions programs at Second Baptist Church, 3111 E.
