Obituary

Charles E. Stock Sr., age 81, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, September 22nd, 2012. Charlie was born in Cape Girardeau on March 17th, 1931. He graduated from Saint Mary's High School, Cape Girardeau and continued on to receive several honors and Certificates of Recognition while serving 21 years in the USAF. These started with graduation from Military Police School, Camp Gordon, Georgia in 1951 and continued with some but not all of the following: Certificate of Honor presented by the American Legion, Cape Girardeau, MO, for serving during the Korean conflict, Officer of the Day for outstanding performance and NCO Leadership Certification, Mather AFB, Sacramento, CA., Sharpshooter qualification, Sherman AFB, Sherman, TX., Chaplin Services Supervisor, Amarillo AFB, Amarillo, TX., and finally ending his career with a Certificate of Recognition, Kessler AFB, Mississippi. Charlie was married to Geraldine Wyatt for 6 years. Prior to that Charlie was married to Christine Broadway of Albuquerque, NM for 18 years. After Military retirement, Charlie worked as a guard at the Nebraska Federal Correctional Facility for 3 years prior to moving to Springfield, MO. Charlie enjoyed guns, wildlife, especially the wild birds found at his country home. Charlie is survived by 5 children; Craig A. Stock, Andrea F. Nelson, Charles E. Stock Jr., Matthew J. Stock, and Kevin Stock; 5 grandchildren Jonathan Stock, Derek Stock, Ian Stock, Ethan and Lili Stock; 1 great-grandchild; one brother Paul Stock and two nephews. In lieu of flowers or memorial donations, just prayers would be appreciated. The family of Charles E. Stock Jr. wishes to thank all the family members and friends who have expressed sympathy and offered help on Facebook, by phone, and in person all of whom are too numerous to list. Charles E. Stock Jr. would also like to express gratitude to his employer, the USPS for their flexibility and cooperation during his time of need.
