Mission, Legacy, Goal, Obituary and Epitaph

Mission: The purpose and meaning of and what I strive to accomplish with my life is to bring glory, honor and praise to my Lord and Savior by serving him through my words, thoughts and actions. The struggle is to keep short accounts of my failures.

Legacy: My Christian testimony of faithfulness in serving my Lord so that my children may follow in His steps.

Goal: My most significant goal is to finish my life in faithful service to my Lord.

Obituary: Charles (Chuck) William Sneddon, age 78, of Springfield, Missouri, was welcomed home into heaven on Sunday, February 24, 2047 (he was always saying that he would live 100 years). Chuck was born February 25, 1946, in Moline, Illinois, to William H. and Marjorie Lenore Sneddon, the first of four children. He married Lynette Alaine Reese on Saturday, March 13, 1971. They had just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary and were still best friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his sister, Penny Lee. He is survived by two brothers, Michael J and wife Joan., of Mattoon, Illinois, and James Paul and wife Peggy of Schaumburg, Illinois; four children, Heather Marie Matasark and husband Petru of Louisville, Kentucky, Thomas Blair and wife Luz, of Galesburg, Illinois, Joseph Eric and wife Rui of Springfield, Missouri, and Jonathan Reese of Springfield, Missouri; Seven grandchildren, Cristofer, Anamaria, Tamara, Liliana, Anthony, Corina, William and too numerous to acknowledge, nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Galesburg High School and a private trade school, Chuck began his career in what was then known as Data Processing, as a computer programmer, at the age of 19. His career was interrupted by three years of military service with the United States Army. He earned an Associate of Applied Science at community college and later to earn his Bachelor degree in Religious Education and four years as a church administrator. His career didn't end with his retirement from Bass Pro Shops at age 72, as he continued to develop spreadsheets for nonprofit organizations in Southwest Missouri.

Chuck acknowledged the truth of God's word and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of ten. In keeping with his interest in managing his own investment portfolio, he would describe his Christian life as a line graph, representing the ups and downs, hills and valleys, of daily living, but with a visible upward trend toward becoming more like Christ. He would tell you today that he has achieved his goal, the perfect investment with the perfect return.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Monday, April 22, 2024, with Celebration of Life service following at 11:00 AM, at Second Baptist Church. Private Burial will be at a later date in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

Epitaph: Here lies a joint heir with Jesus of Nazareth; please join me in sharing my inheritance.
