Obituary
Charles L. Slater, 64, passed away in his home Sunday September 4, on his birthday. His death resulted from a heart attack the previous week Charles was a kind and gentle man with a good sense of humor, who made his living serving people as a housekeeper and gardener. He had a wealth of knowledge of Springfield history, which, unfortunately, died with him. He will be greatly missed by his friends, especially Dr. Don and Linda Overend and Mike and Marsha Hale and all the people he worked for. There will be no services, arrangements will be under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
