Charles "Dean" Roberts, age 79, of Springfield, MO passed away Monday morning, October 2, 2017, after a battle with Lewy Body Dementia.  He was born on April 26, 1938 in Hartshorn, MO to James and Ruth Roberts.  On August 20, 1956, he married Carolee Ann Cole.

Dean was a mason and home builder for many years in the Springfield area.  He was a member of Second Baptist Church where he enjoyed volunteering and helping with mission projects.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Frederick Roberts, Sr. and Alice Ruth Murphin Roberts, a brother, William Chloe Roberts, and two nephews.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carolee; a son, Ray Dean Roberts and wife Debra; a daughter, Rhonda Faye McGinnis and husband Steven, and their three children, Mandolyn and husband Jon, Stephanie, and Tenslee-Dean.  Also surviving are siblings: George Roberts of Branson, MO, Juanita Crawford and husband Robert of West Plains, MO, James F. Roberts Jr. and wife Ruth of Springfield, MO, Bob Roberts and wife Bonnye of Springfield, MO, Donna Zwiener and husband Jim of Huntsville, AL, and twin sisters Brenda Collins and husband Bruce of West Plains, MO and Linda Gould and husband Ron of West Plains, MO; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. John Marshall officiating.  Burial will be held in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
