Charles Q. "Chuck" Evans, 76 of Springfield passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at 1:44 am in Birch Pointe Health and Rehab.
He was born March 18, 1942 in Pueblo, Colorado to Robert and Leta Evans. He graduated from Pueblo County High School. While working at Skaggs Drugstore in 1962 Chuck met Judy Hopkins, they started dating and married in 1964. After a few transfers they settled in Springfield and raised their family. His passion for hands on learning led Chuck to a career in construction for the majority of his life. In retirement he became the "worst" babysitter allowing his grandchildren full reign.
Chuck loved classical music fostered by his mother's piano playing growing up. He was a passionate reader, a huge Broncos fan and loved Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Evans.
He is survived by his mother, Leta Evans of Pueblo, CO; two sisters, Cathie and husband, Gary Stueve of Pueblo, CO, and Leigh Whaley of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother, Chris and wife, Phyllis Evans of California, Maryland; his wife, Judy of the home; a daughter, Casey and husband, Mark Maples of Rogersville; a son, Robert Evans of Springfield; grandchildren, Josh Maples and Hailey Maples of Rogersville, and Colton Rainey and Isabella Rainey of Bolivar, MO.
Services will be Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Hope Church, 2121 S. Blackman Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Evans Family for the two living memorial trees they plan to plant in Springfield and in Colorado in honor of Chuck.
